Policies & Processes For Purchasing A Puppy

Please understand that we are not a kennel. Our small number of dogs live in our home as part of our family. When you join the Paradise Family, you can rest assured that your newest addition was carefully planned with the intention of breed improvement in mind. We take seriously the commitment of everyone who comes to us looking for a dachshund and our policies are meant to always put the puppy first. Our prices are set annually and change only due to rising economic factors beyond our control. Older puppies that do not turn out for show and retiring adults are priced accordingly.

Paradise Dachshunds are a wonderful, albeit tenacious and sometimes stubborn, all around family dog & constant companion.

As breeders, we are committed to the pursuit of our goal, which is to breed an excellent quality Miniature Dachshund.

Application process

  • The first step in the process is to fill out our Puppy Application. It may take us up to 2 weeks to reply because we only breed a few litters a year and often with trusted co-owners.

  • When we have puppies available, we will first email you with details, and then set up a phone interview. A $700, non-refundable first payment towards a puppy is due within a week after speaking. Prices of our available puppies is shared after the application is received. We will not ask for a deposit unless we have an available puppy, we have had the interview and you are approved and ready to move forward.

  • The remaining balance is due at time of delivery. I only accept cash at time of delivery.

  • We do not accept credit cards, or electronic payment methods. Check for the deposit, cash for the balance.

Communication and Restrictions

  • My email address is (click below to launch an email):

 paradise_dachshunds@yahoo.com

  • My phone number is private until I am sure there is an available puppy. Email helps me keep track of everything. I will do my best to review your application within 14 days and get back to you with any questions, and availability.

  • References by request, with a completed application, a phone call/interview with me has been completed AND there are available puppies.

  • I ONLY sell puppies to adults between the ages of 24-74 years of age and you must have the financial ability to raise a puppy, including required vet care.

  • I do not sell puppies to households with children under the age of four to protect my puppies from being dropped and their backs being injured from a fall or landed on by an exuberant child. Back/disc injuries is the number one health issue in the breed.

Puppy Selection Process

  • As a show breeder, I and any co-owners, have the first choice in any litter and can choose to hold back more than one from a litter until a final decision is reached.

  • I will assist you in choosing the best puppy for you based on your coat/color/ and gender preference and which puppy I feel will best suit your home/lifestyle.

  • It will be a very easy process if you remain completely open because color (red or b/t) and gender (once neutered or spayed) will play very little difference in the look or temperament of my dachshunds. However, long hair tends to be mellower and more accepting of strangers, but does require some basic grooming.

  • Once a deposit is received, I will not refund if you decide to go elsewhere or unable to take delivery by 12 weeks of age.

  • I have the right to refuse anyone a puppy if any red flags appear, and your deposit (if I had taken one) will be refunded. If the red flag appears at time of delivery, a reduction of $300 will apply to the refund.

Visitors & Picking Up Your Puppy

  • We are not a pet store and are not open 24/7 nor can we allow visitors here because of a restrictive deed covenant regarding business activities for the development my home is located in. I was sued by my neighbor in 2014 because someone stopped at his house looking for me, and it set him off. He has threatened me and my dogs. So, there are NO exceptions to my 'no visitors' rule.

  • You are encouraged to come to a dog show and meet me before getting on my wait list, and/or before sending a deposit. Timing of puppy availability may prevent an in person visit at a show, but I also attend training classes and can always meet you there.. My schedule varies, most shows I attend are in Western MA at the Big E, but smaller shows are in the summer in Wrentham, or Cape Cod and a few even in RI, CT and NH.

  • I will send you videos and photos of any puppy I have available as a companion after receiving your application.

  • Puppies will be given a health certificate and first vaccines by my Vet at 8 weeks.

  • Free delivery up to 100 miles one way at an acceptable, and safe location (I can do home deliveries) and you must personally be there at time of pick up. A fuel surcharge will be added beyond 100 miles.

  • I only sell puppies to the following states - Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Maine, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania

Contract & Payment

  • Puppies are sold strictly with a signed contract, and only with a spay/neuter agreement.

  • Puppies are also sold with the expectation of a lifetime commitment. My contract, which you will sign, states that you will notify me if you are unable to care for, or keep this puppy, at any time in its’ life. And that I will take this puppy back or refer you to a rescue organization I support in the event I have retired from breeding.

  • Final balance is due at pick up, cash only.

Photos & Videos
